Veneers
Many tropical and temperate rainforest woods are used in the form of veneers. The veneers are either imported as such or imported already applied to furniture, flooring or other products.
While using veneers is more efficient, reducing the overall amount of the wood used, it is still a large use of rainforest wood overall and even veneers should be avoided unless they’re certified.
The following companies deal in rainforest wood veneers.
Brookside Veneer
Sey-Macaulay Veneer Industries
Alternatives
For veneers, choose certified domestic second-growth species such as oak and maple. When stained, black walnut looks very similar to mahogany.
