The loss of rainforests is bringing with it the greatest Mass Extinction to have occurred on Earth in the last 65 million years, as well as the loss of dozens of unique indigenous human cultures.
Nothing less than the biological integrity of our planet Earth is at stake. Millions of unique life forms with billions of individual organisms, dozens of unique human cultures — the health and well being of hundreds of thousands of indigenous people — this is what these forests support.
The cycling of moisture through the tropics, food and medicines and building materials for millions of people — the services these forests provide are incalculable and irreplaceable.
Yet worldwide, these forests are being lost at the rate of an acre-and-a-half every second.
Find out more about rainforests, what products support their destruction, and what you can do to slow the loss.
