An article published by Alternet, written by Robert Jereski, has highlighted Rainforest Relief's New York CIty Rainforest Wood campaign.
Alternet is an award-winning news magazine and on-line community and Alternet articles are widely-read. Already, we have received feedback from numerous people who have read the article.
Rob's article reached Dr. Glen Barry, president of Ecological Internet, who contacted Rob and Tim Keating, Rainforest Relief's director, to publish an action alert on the campaign.
A ripple article has already appeared in the Gotham Gazette, an on-line magazing on New York City news and policy, reporting on the AlterNet article.
This article was read by the NYC Councilmember, Oliver Koppel, who had previously sponsored a resolution calling on the city to switch to reycled plastic lumber for outdoor applications where rainforest wood is currently used. Councilmember Koppel seesm interested in introducing a stronger measure.
Hopefully, these artilcles and the alert will generate additional pressure on the city's administration to take further steps to shift to alternatives to wood from endangered ancient tropical forests.
