A bill has been introduced in the US Congress that, if passed, will address the imports of wood logged illegally.

Dubbed The Legal Timber Protection Act, will amend the US Lacey Act, which pertains to the importation of endangered wildlife and the transport of illegal wildlife or illegally hunted wildlife products across state lines.

Rainforest Relief is evaluating the bill language but is preliminarily supporting passage of the bill.

The measure has been promoted by the Environmental Investigation Agency, an environmental organization based in Washington, DC.

Rainforest Relief has worked with EIA on a number of projects in the past.
