Having heard about an impending purchase of 40,000 board feet of African rainforest woods for the re-decking of the Strawberry Mansion Bridge over the Delaware River, we contacted the Philly Bridges Dept. to tell them of our concerns. The timing of the contact was fortuitous as their supplier had just missed the delivery deadline and they were unable to get in touch with them. We put them in touch with Sylvania Certified, one of the few suppliers in the country that was able to deliver FSC-certified tropical wood. Bridges shifted their purchase to Sylvania as well as Phase II, which called for another 60,000 board feet.
